The field event took place in Tiszakürt on 16-17 July 2026 within the framework of the V4 “Hidden Diversity” project (No.: 22530306), with approximately 11-15 active participants. Due to the promotion of our “Hidden Diversity” project, we believe, among other things, that despite the fact that the “field excursion” took place at a somewhat more distant location, the participants and interested parties will carry the results of the educational work and the news of the successfully implemented V4 program with them to a similar distance, thereby strengthening the professional relations desirable for the benefit of protected bat species with other interest organizations (nature conservation NGOs, schools, national park directorates, etc.), as well as other researchers operating in the area of distribution of bat species.
The training combined with the excursion was successful, during which we captured several dozen specimens of Soprano pipistrelle (Pipistrellus pygmaeus), Leisler’s bat (Nyctalus leisleri) and Noctule (N. noctula), Serotine (Eptesicus serotinus), and Daubentoni’s bat (Myotis daubentonii), respectively. The participants were able to learn about the field operation of the bat detector, the different types and setup of bat nets, and the technique of removing bats from the nets.

Contrary to the originally planned location (Visegrad Mts.), due to the organization of accommodation and its saturation during the summer period, as well as our logistical possibilities, a closer location was not available on the planned days. At the same time, the people participating here will continuously participate in the research and survey work required by the Visegrad Fund and our “Hidden Diversity” support project in the Pilis and Visegrád Mts. areas during the rest of the project period (August, September), throughout the season.
