In 2026 we started a new adventure in the conservation of bats in the V4 region - see description of the project here . In contrast to previous projects, here we focused on bat species which prefer a warm climate (the Mediterranean area is the centre of their distribution). Three Horseshoe bat species ( Rhinolophus ferrumequinum, R. euryale and R. hipposideros ), Schreibers' Bent-winged Bat ( Miniopterus schreibersii ) and Lesser Mouse-eared Bat ( Myotis blythii ) are the key species. New data are needed for actual conservation measures. We selected four areas with a warm climate along the Danube and Morava rivers: Pálava, Devínska Kobyla, Burda and Visegrad mountains. In spring we started recording bat echolocation signals using specialized recorders – Audiomoth. We installed four recorders in each area, in open or semi-open locations.
